Real Madrid welcomes its Catalan rival FC Barcelona this Sunday evening, on the Santiago Bernabeu pitch, during the 32nd day of La Liga. A match which quickly got carried away with Andreas Christensen’s opening score then Vinicius Júnior’s equalizer. While the Danish defender’s goal is already subject to popular criticism from several Catalan defenders, another action risks causing a lot of ink to flow. On a corner on the right, Raphinha took care of it by kicking it home but Andriy Lunin came back behind his line at the last minute to push back the ball which nevertheless seemed to have gone in well.

No goal line technology in Spain, nor contradictory decision of the VAR. The goal was therefore not awarded due to lack of convincing image. La Liga president Javier Tebas was quick to tweet “No comment” with numerous screenshots of articles that explain similar cases in Serie A, Ligue 1, Bundesliga and Premier League despite the presence of goal line technology. Not sure that the argument will convince Catalan supporters.
