Still at the top, Croatian international Luka Modric would be determined to stay at Real Madrid.

At 38, Luka Modric still has no plans to hang up his boots. His reduced playing time in favor of young talents such as Jude Bellingham, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde does not seem to make him want to leave Casa Blanca either.

Started 19 times in 38 matches this season by his coach Carlo Ancelotti, the Croatian midfielder nevertheless retains an undeniable status within the Madrid locker room, if we are to believe the information revealed by Marca. A favorable environment which would reinforce Modric’s desire to continue the adventure in Madrid.

Towards a one-year extension?

For its part, the club management has not yet started discussions with the player with a view to a possible contract extension. If this happens, it is highly likely that the 2018 Ballon d’Or will be offered a contract for one more season. Real’s policy is to offer 12-month contracts to players over 30 years old.

Arriving during the summer of 2012 from Tottenham, Modric could thus play his thirteenth in Madrid colors. The Vatreni legend currently has 525 appearances with the Merengue for 39 goals and 94 assists. He was also one of the great architects of the club’s last five Champions League titles between 2013 and 2022.
