AJ Auxerre, Angers SCO and AS Saint-Etienne all three won their match on the 34th day of Ligue 2, Wednesday evening, and will therefore compete for the two direct tickets to the elite. The fight rages for 4th and 5th place.

Four days before the end of Ligue 2, the suspense is total. AJ Auxerre, the big leader of the championship, which remained on two defeats, recovered by beating Laval 4-0, Wednesday evening, thanks in particular to a double from its center forward Florian Ayé (13th and 33rd). The residents of Abbé-Deschamps have a little lead but are still under threat from Angers and Saint-Etienne, respectively three and four points away.

The SCO, with a 14th goal from Loïs Diony (the second top scorer in L2), won in the lair of En Avant Guingamp (1-2). A huge boost from the Angevins as the players playing at Roudourou lose their footing in the race to climb (they are now 9th). ASSE followed up its huge victory against Bordeaux last Saturday with a success in Grenoble, thanks to goals at the end of the match from its Dylan, Batubinsika and Chambost.

Rodez is 4th!

These three leading teams escaped but nothing is done, obviously, since only the first two places will offer direct promotion to Ligue 1. The third will be opposed to the winner of the first play-off in the 4th and 5th. Then the winner of this “play-in” (if we use the term used by the NBA) will face the 16th in Ligue 1 in a round-trip play-off.

Rodez made the huge operation of the day by grabbing 4th place thanks to a 1-0 success against Paris FC, now fifth. Pau FC and SM Caen have one point less than the Parisians. The Béarnais did not win (2-2) against Troyes, the 17th, while the Normans pulled away in front of Annecy (2-1) thanks to a goal from captain Romain Thomas. Two shocks are on the program for this weekend: PFC-Angers and ASSE-Caen. Terrible !
