FC Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez is reportedly willing to stay in the job beyond this summer, despite saying for months he would not change his mind about his decision to leave.

Xavi would ultimately like to stay at Barça as we told you yesterday. The Catalan coach also began discussing with Deco, the sporting director, plans for next season and potential recruitments this summer.

One of them is Dani Olmo of RB Leipzig. Last week, Deco met with representatives from Dani Olmo’s agency, but it appears that it was more to discuss Mikayil Faye’s role in the first team, which is represented by Olmo’s father. Xavi appreciates the former La Masia talent, who has a €50m release clause this summer.

Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez has also been offered to FC Barcelona and Xavi has given the green light for Deco to move in on the Argentine as well. Rodriguez is out of contract this summer and available for free, and although MD says he wasn’t his first choice for the center position, he’s a player Xavi likes.

A move to sign Rodriguez seems much more feasible than a move for Olmo at the time of writing, as Barcelona will need to make significant sales to consider pursuing any high-profile deals this summer. As of Friday, the Blaugrana club had yet to make an official approach for Guido Rodriguez, but the latter has often been linked with Barca over the past 18 months.
