At the end of his contract with the Blues, Thiago Silva will leave Chelsea this summer, announces Fabrizio Romano. But the 39-year-old Brazilian has no plans to retire.

Thiago Silva and Chelsea, it’s almost over. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Brazilian defender will leave the Blues this summer, at the end of his contract.

Thiago Silva was already at the end of his contract last year, but he returned in February 2023 for an additional season. This time, the time of departure seems to have arrived for the former Paris Saint-Germain player. This will be the end of a four-year adventure which began the day after his departure from PSG, after the 2020 Champions League final, and which was marked by a victory in C1 with the Blues, in 2021, against Manchester City.

Return to Brazil for Thiago Silva?

For several years, Thiago Silva was the captain of Chelsea’s defense. His playing time has decreased somewhat this season, where he has sometimes spent several matches on the bench, but the Brazilian has still taken part in 25 Premier League matches this season.

Fabrizio Romano says Thiago Silva rejected some offers in January, so as not to let Chelsea down during the season. At 39, he still plans to pursue his career. Fluminense, the club where he played before his departure for AC Milan in 2009, would be in the running to welcome him.
