PSG-OL: the lucid reaction of Pierre Sage

What can we say about OL’s performance this evening? While they had not lost in Ligue 1 since the home rout against RC Lens at the beginning of March (0-3), Les Gones suffered a new humiliation this Sunday on the PSG pitch. Facing much better Parisians, Pierre Sage’s men did not exist despite a second period much better than the first during which they scuttled themselves in a few minutes. Questioned after the meeting by Prime Video, the coach of Olympique Lyonnais delivered an implacable observation. His team was not up to par defensively.

“I didn’t think it was time to change plans directly. We ran a race 200 meters behind in a 300m. Despite everything, I saw things offensively. We deserved to score more. Tonight, we lost on our defensive play. We didn’t know how to manage the wide positions and we couldn’t organize ourselves between our full-backs and our wingers. I regret not being able to adapt more quickly. The score does not reflect our game offensively. We will forget the result, but we have things to correct defensively. We were in a series of seven matches, we lost tonight, we must not forget everything. The next match will be very important to catch up with us. Our ambition remains intact. We lost against one of the best teams in Europe. I want to salute them because when they are at this level, it is very hard to beat them.
