PL: Liverpool loses very badly against Crystal Palace, Fulham returns to success

Continuation of the 33rd day of the Premier League. Temporarily relegated to third place after Manchester City’s victory against Luton, Liverpool was obliged to win against Crystal Palace to get back in front of their Mancunian rival. In search of a second wind a few days after being humiliated at home by Atalanta, the Mersey club started the game timidly and was surprised by Palace and Eze, scorer after 10 minutes of play. From the start, the Reds came close to the penalty area but Robertson, author of an unexpected save, came to take away a break point from the Eagles (18th). Gradually, Liverpool tried to regain control of the game by increasing the attacks on Henderson’s cage, who pulled out all the stops to disgust the imprecise Liverpool offensive players in the last gesture.

In line with his performance in the first act, the English goalkeeper allowed his team to preserve their advantage on the scoreboard in the same way as Nathanaël Clyne, savior of the Eagles while the goal was wide open for Diogo Jota. Liverpool may have suffocated their opponent by depriving them of the ball at the end of the game, but Palace held on to bring down the Mersey club for the second time in a row at home! In the standings, Jürgen Klopp’s men performed poorly in the fight for the title (now two points behind Manchester City) and left the field open to Arsenal. Also swept away in the Europa League in midweek, West Ham had to react and resume their march forward in the championship. This included a performance against Fulham, who don’t have much to play for this season. But Andreas Pereira, author of a double, decided otherwise. If Fulham returns to success to climb to 11th, West Ham plunges back into its doubts, falling 12 points behind the top 5.

The 3:00 p.m. matches:

  • Liverpool 0-1 Crystal Palace : Eze (10th)

  • West Ham 0-2 Fulham : Pereira (9th, 71st)
