The 32nd day of La Liga continued this Sunday with a duel for the European places between Getafe (10th) and Real Sociedad (6th). At home, the club from the suburbs of Madrid had to win to keep any hope alive. For the Basques who are provisionally qualified for the Europa League, any result other than a victory would end their Champions League hopes. Quite quickly, Real Sociedad took the lead.

Well found by Sheraldo Becker, Ander Barrenetxea found the fault for Imanol Alguacil’s team (13th), but Getafe did not give up. Served by Mason Greenwood, Juanmi Latasa was responsible for resetting the counters (29th). If the two teams went blow for blow, they parted with a 1-1 draw. Getafe moved up one place and found themselves ninth, but the European dream was fading away. For Real Sociedad it is the Champions League which is moving away, but the Basques remain in a good position for qualification in the Europa League.
