Jude Bellingham was voted “Revelation of the Year” at the Laureus World Sports Awards 2024 which take place on Monday evening.

This Monday, the twenty-fifth Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony is taking place in Madrid, which rewards the best sportsmen (and best sportswomen) of the past year. Several categories exist, including that of sporting revelation of the year. The candidates were footballers Linda Caicedo and Salma Paralluelo, tennis player Coco Gauff, swimmer Qi Haiyang, athlete Josh Kerr, and finally footballer Jude Bellingham. The latter won the prize.

On stage, the Real Madrid player received his prize from Carlos Alcaraz, who was crowned last year. The Spanish tennis player weaved a laurel wreath for his successor. “ Congratulations on your victory. I won this award last year and it was really special for me. (…) I’m really happy that you won it. You represent a lot of positive values for young people, for athletes, myself included. You are an example for everyone. »

Not very chatty

After listening to the tennis player, Jude Bellingham also said a few very brief words, wishing the public a good evening. Obviously, the England international is much more comfortable on a football pitch than with a microphone in his hand in front of an audience. And that’s all that Real Madrid supporters are asking of him, who were once again able to count on him this Sunday, during the Clasico won against FC Barcelona thanks to Bellingham’s winning goal.

He will also be eagerly awaited during the Champions League semi-final that Real will play against Bayern Munich on April 30 and May 8.
