Who will succeed Thomas Tuchel? If FC Barcelona is still trying to convince Xavi to reverse his decision, Bayern Munich will not retain Tuchel. Except that the Bavarian club is having a hard time finding his successor. However, there was no shortage of leads. Xabi Alonso, Hans Dieter Flick, Zinedine Zidane, José Mourinho, Roberto De Zerbi and even Ralf Rangnick had been cited. Since then, several avenues have closed (Alonso, Zidane for example).

However, one profile seemed to emerge, that of Julian Nagelsmann. Now coach of the German team, Nagelsmann seemed to be getting closer to a comeback in Bavaria. According to the latest information from Sky Germany, Max Eberl, the new sporting director of Bayern, had held negotiations with the agency representing the young German technician.

No comeback in Bavaria for Nagelsmann

Since then, the coach’s advisor, Volker Struth, had indicated on the sidelines of the Bayern Munich-Arsenal match that his colt would quickly decide. “Currently everyone is asking me the same question: Is Nagelsmann returning to FC Bayern or what is Nagelsmann doing? (…) This will be decided in the coming days. This will be decided soon. In the next 5, 6, 7 days. » This Friday, Bild announces that a twist of theater has occurred: Julian Nagelsmann has decided to remain loyal to the German federation (DFB). Information which has just been officially confirmed.

“Julian Nagelsmann will remain national coach of the German senior men’s national team beyond the home European Championship. This was decided unanimously by the supervisory board and general meeting of DFB GmbH & Co. KG this Friday. The 36-year-old coach’s new contract runs until the conclusion of the next FIFA World Cup in 2026 in the United States, Canada and Mexico. In September last year, Nagelsmann initially signed a contract up to and including EURO 2024., we can read on the official website of the DFB. No return to Bayern therefore.
