The Thomas Tuchel case is at the heart of the debates at Bayern Munich. While Bayer Leverkusen put an end to the Rekordmeister’s hegemony in the Bundesliga, the Bavarian leaders are looking for a future coach for next season. The name of Xabi Alonso, coach of B04, was quickly ruled out, given that the Spanish technician will continue the adventure with the neo-champion of Germany. The president, Herbert Hainer, does not hold grudges. “Xabi Alonso would suit any club in the world. But I wasn’t disappointed because he never said he was leaving Leverkusen. Today it is claimed that Xabi Alonso has rejected FC Bayern. He only announced that he respected his contract at Leverkusen.

On the other hand, the negative results could get the better of Thomas Tuchel. Elimination in the Champions League at the quarter-final stage would be another failure for Bayern, and for Tuchel. “We made our plan clear: the coach (Tuchel) would stay until the end of the season. This gives us enough time to look for a successor. But it’s not good to ask questions after every match: Will the coach still be there? What will happen if you lose to Arsenal? (…) We must do everything we can to achieve the big objective: the semi-finals”, added Hainer. To be continued…
