Before joining Real Madrid, Jude Bellingham spent three seasons with Borussia Dortmund. At the age of 17, the Englishman decided to go to Germany to continue to progress in his football and to be able to play regularly. A choice which proved wise because in three seasons, the midfielder was able to participate in 132 matches. However, things could have turned out differently when he was 17. As told by Bryan Robson, great Manchester United legend, in an interview with Telegraph SportJude Bellingham was very close to signing up for the Red Devils.

“It was really disappointing. We were at Carrington (the club's training centre) and Sir Alex Ferguson was there a little earlier than me, but Eric (Cantona) and I met him and his mum and dad and we had a chat. It seemed really promising that he was signing for Manchester United… Eric and I did a bad job as he signed for Borussia! We thought he was in the bag!” he told the English daily.
