OM-Benfica, pre-match

Olympique de Marseille is only one match away from a European Cup semi-final. However, the step will be particularly high and difficult to overcome for Jean-Louis Gasset's team which faces Benfica this Thursday (9 p.m.), as part of the quarter-final return leg of the Europa League. Beaten in Lisbon a week ago (2-1), the Phocaeans will have to turn the situation around in their Vélodrome stadium, with once again the problem of a team decimated by injuries.

Behind, Jean-Louis Gasset will still have to tinker and he could well reserve a surprise by choosing to start the young Soglo, seen during the last half hour of the first leg. Without Clauss, Merling, Sarr, Meïté, Rongier or even Nadir, all injured, the Marseille coach had to have words to build his team. Also note that Gigot and Ounahi are under threat of a second yellow card which would deprive them of a possible semi-final first leg.

The OM-Benfica match will kick off this Thursday, April 18 at 9 p.m. and the match will be broadcast both on M6 and on Canal+ Foot. It will also be followed live with commentary on our site.

OM-Benfica, the official lineups

OM plays in a 4-3-1-2 formation with Lopez in front of the cage, Mbemba on the right of the defense or Veretout in the middle. Ounahi also starts on the left, while Ndiaye attacks with Aubameyang. Opposite, Benfica will offer a 4-2-3-1. Di Maria still starts, just like Neres and the top striker, Tengstedt.

OM: Lopez – Mbemba, Balerdi, Gigot, Soglo – Veretout, Kondogbia, Ounahi – Harit – Ndiaye, Aubameyang.

Benfica: Trubin – Bah, Ant. Silva, Otamendi, Aursnes – Florentino, Neves – Di Maria, Rafa Silva, Neres – Tengstedt.
