OM can finally breathe

In need of strength in recent weeks, OM finally recorded some good news before taking on Benfica Lisbon.

A real massacre. The last international break was catastrophic for OM, which multiplied the bad news and saw its workforce blithely impacted. Bamo Méïté, Ulisses Garcia, Ismaïla Sarr, Pape Gueye and Jonathan Clauss, all were injured in this ten-day interval, joining Valentin Rongier, Jean Onana, Amir Murillo, Leonardo Balerdi and Samuel Gigot in the infirmary.

If the latter two were able to line up diminished against Paris at the restart, Chancel Mbemba was injured in his turn during the Classic, despite himself maintaining the Olympians' black streak. A real curse which is fortunately tending to dissipate. Jonathan Clauss, Ismaïla Sarr and Valentin Rongier are close to returning now, when Chancel Mbemba and Amir Murillo find themselves fit to fight again.

Always on a thread

The Congolese and Panamanian defenders return to the group called by Jean-Louis Gasset to face Benfica in Lisbon on Thursday evening in the quarter-final first leg of the Europa League. A breath of fresh air for the Phocaeans who, beyond the players on the flank, will have to cope without Ulisses Garcia and Pape Gueye for the occasion – the two men not being qualified on the European scene. The Marseillais' room for maneuver therefore remains limited. Especially on their rear.

The 20 Olympians summoned for Lisbon:
Guardians: Lopez, Blanco, Van Neck
Defenders: Merlin, Balerdi, Gigot, M'Madi, Soglo, Murillo, Mbemba
Environments: Kondogbia, Harit, Ounahi, Veretout, Daou,
Attackers: Aubameyang, Ndiaye, Moumbagna, Henrique, Correa

The probable Marseille eleven against Benfica:
Lopez – Mbemba, Gigot, Balerdi, Merlin – Veretout, Harit, Kondogbia – Ndiaye, Aubameyang, Moumbagna
