Former Italian striker Alessandro Del Piero has spoken of his admiration for the Sky Blues striker.
Alessandro Del Piero was a top class striker. And he knows one when he sees one. Currently, “Il Pinturicchio” has a weakness for Phil Foden, the brilliant Manchester City winger.
The 2006 world champion commented on City's match against Real in the Champions League on Tuesday evening. He saw Foden put in a brilliant performance which he enhanced with a goal. At the end of the game, he had nothing but praise for him.
Del Piero tips his hat to Foden
“Guardiola had a hard time with Foden because he has incredible qualities. Pep trains you to do that (score great goals) and if you're at City it means you're good enough to do that. But for this purpose, there is a bit of a summary of his qualities, he is daring and effective.”
Del Piero was also won over by the overall level of this match: “This is perhaps one of the best matches in the history of the Champions League. For the level of play, for the beauty of the goals. When there are matches of such importance, we tend to protect ourselves a little more and instead, we saw two teams who got away with it. This match must be replayed numerous times throughout the week.”
