The rating given to Stéphane Frappart by the newspaper L'Equipe after Lyon-Valenciennes on Tuesday caused great anger.

This is one of the highlights of this week in the great French football family. Very prominent in refereeing in recent years, Stéphanie Frappart experienced a small humiliation by receiving a rating of 1/10 in the newspaper L'Équipe following her performance during the Coupe de France semi-final between Olympique Lyonnais and Valenciennes, won by the Rhone club (3-0).

Journalist at L'Équipe, Vincent Duluc justified this note by recalling that this type of assessment always resulted from internal debates. “The rating of 1 attributed to Stéphanie Frappart logically appealed to some of our readers. This is a rare mark for a player or a referee. As usual when it comes to grades, everything is debatable, everything is contestable, we never even agree among ourselves, and there is no risk of pretending to be right.”

“An unworthy note!” »

The fact remains that this note was not necessarily well received by certain players in French football, like Jean-Michel Aulas. For the former emblematic boss of OL, the media's assessment is far too harsh. “JMA” did not hesitate to defend Frappart.

“This rating of 1/10 attributed to Stéphanie Frappart is unworthy! What do you blame her for making a mistake? Are we talking more about interpretation of the incriminated actions? Without certainty in your evaluations. The score of 1 is not acceptable, questioning is also essential” thundered Aulas on X.
