OM, the terrible announcement

Bad news for Olympique de Marseille…

Valentin Rongier could see his season end prematurely. The Olympique de Marseille midfielder will probably not play again this season, according to The Team. The French international injured in the patella of his left knee and operated on last November has not yet been able to return to the field, despite his optimism and his efforts.

The 29-year-old's latest running tests are more encouraging, but he still has work to do on his rehabilitation. According to our colleagues Baptiste Chaumier and Mélisande Gomez, it is unlikely that he will be able to play again before the end of the season.

A hard blow for OM

The absence of Rongier is a hard blow for the team led by Jean-Louis Gasset, currently 7th in Ligue 1 and still in contention in the Europa League. If the Marseille club confirms his unavailability until the end of this financial year, the Mâconnais will therefore have to concentrate on his convalescence and aim to return to full fitness for next season.

As a reminder, the former Nantes player, who arrived at Canebière in September 2019, has been lined up 14 times as a starter in 15 appearances for Marseille this season.
