After three and a half years and 86 appearances in all competitions in the yellow and black jersey, Thomas Meunier headed to Turkey to hope to relaunch his career and once again win the favor of Belgium coach, Domenico Tedesco. A risky choice but one that paid off since the former Paris Saint-Germain defender was called up with the Red Devils for the friendly matches against Ireland and England during the international break in March . Present at a press conference, the native of Sainte-Ode spoke with a touch of bitterness about his departure from Dortmund.

“Dortmund communicated to me that despite the fact that I was on the pitch, the return from injury of my competitor would put me on the sidelines again. I find that it lacks neutrality and competition but the message was clear. If you find an option, take your chance because in Dortmund it will be complicated. And so, despite the fact that I only had six months left on my contract, in my head, the only objective was to return to the national team. So I had to take the risk and try the adventure in another team. And for now, the choice of Trabzonspor turns out to be the most interesting”expressed the Belgian international.
