FC Lorient allowed itself two bets despite a limited budget.
Eleventh budget in Ligue 1 with 70 million euros, FC Lorient nonetheless made a name for itself last summer by recruiting two French internationals in distress, Benjamin Mendy, just released from prison after winning his trial for rape, and Tiémoué Bakayoko.
Unsurprisingly, the two players dominate the salary rankings in the Lorient locker room, the two men receiving some 120,000 euros per month while the average gross salary is 60,000 euros at Merlus, according to L'Equipe.
