The newspaper L'Equipe has revealed the salaries of Ligue 1 clubs and certain emoluments are of concern, particularly among the least efficient players.
In today's edition, the Team takes stock of the different Ligue 1 salaries and of course, this analysis delivers its share of discoveries… Particularly at OM. The Olympian club did not hesitate, this summer, to break the bank to bring some big names to the Marseille city.
Joaquin Correa's salary is therefore immediately obvious among the list of emoluments of Olympian players. Arriving last summer at Olympique de Marseille from Inter Milan, in the form of a loan, the Argentine striker calls out by his deficient services in contrast to his high salary, he who receives a whopping 450,000 euros gross monthly for a very rickety balance sheet.
Joaquin Correa's huge salary
“ 0 goals, 0 assists, there are almost as many zeros in Joaquin Correa's stat line as on his pay slip », thus scolds L'Equipe in its article today. Ismaila Sarr also disappoints with his 390,000 euros per month. But flops are far from being exclusive to OM this season. Lille's Samuel Umtiti, who only played 13 games, is very well paid for the Mastiffs with a salary peaking at €150,000. The former Barcelona player is also the 4th highest paid player in the squad.
If PSG largely dominates the ranking of the highest paid players in Ligue 1, the Ile-de-France workforce is not only populated by successes, far from it. A Layvin Kurzawa thus earns 500,000 euros. The left back has only played 9 minutes this season, last October 21 against Strasbourg. In a Top 30 which includes, in total, 18 PSG players, we also find Carlos Soler, who also has a comfortable salary of 500,000 euros per month. Milan Skriniar, very often injured, who receives 1,100,000 euros, also figures prominently among our “flops” who do not deserve their salary.
Lyonnais Nemanja Matic is also struggling to convince despite half a million euros in salary. Still in Lyon, Dejan Lovren no longer plays despite a staggering salary peaking at 400,000 euros per month. On the Lorient side, the bets Tiémoué Bakayoko and Benjamin Mendy, who receive €120,000 each, cannot (yet?) be described as great successes.
