Ligue 1, change is announced

The board of directors of the Professional Football League chose this Thursday the new partner whose name will be associated with Ligue 1. It is McDonald's.

After four years of partnership, Ligue 1 and Uber Eats will separate. The ready meal delivery company was nevertheless ready to continue the adventure, but its proposal, revised upwards, will obviously not have carried enough weight compared to that of its only competitor, McDonald's. The fast food company therefore won. The choice was approved this Thursday by the board of directors of the Professional Football League (LFP).

The information was revealed by The Team, who gave some details about the future partnership. The American company will therefore attach its name to that of Ligue 1 for the next three seasons. According to the sports media, the total amount that will be paid McDonald's to the LFP is estimated at 90 million euros, or 30 million euros per year. That's almost double what they paid Uber Eats whose annual contract was 16 million euros.

And now the rights

The negotiations are therefore a success for the management of the League which also signed a contract of 155 million euros over five years with Infront (marketing company) for live betting rights on Ligue 1, Ligue 2 and the Champions Trophy worldwide, outside France. It now remains for the president of the LFP, Vincent Labrune, to look into the matter of broadcasting rights for the Ligue 1 championship, for the period 2024-2029.

As also stated The Team, the League is in the process of negotiating over-the-counter with the various broadcasters. The sum of 900 million euros per year remains the objective stated by Vincent Labrune.
