After more than five years at Manchester City, with the status of a player who evolved from starter to substitute, Aymeric Laporte (29 years old) decided to leave for Al-Nassr this summer for a new experience in Saudi Arabia. The Spain international has fond memories of the Sky Blues, but not of his former manager Pep Guardiola. Currently in selection, Aymeric Laporte gave an interview to RadioMarca. The native of Agen looks back on his departure and his tumultuous relationship with the Catalan coach: “Guardiola often says 'if anyone doesn't want to be here, say so… and good luck'. That's what he usually says. For many players, it wasn't like that, but I'm not going to dwell on that sort of thing. I decided to leave and I was able to leave. That’s all there is to say”.

In the same interview, Aymeric Laporte wanted to wish good luck to his Brahim Diáz with whom he played at City between 2018 and 2019: “We are like brothers, we have had the opportunity to talk about it several times. It's a shame because I would have liked to play with him and spend more time with him, be with him again after being at City with him. But everyone has to make their own decision and I support him in whatever decisions he makes in his life, I hope it will be for the best.”.
