A stupid decision from Vinicius could cost Real Madrid dearly.
In yesterday's match against Osasuna, Vinicius Jr received a stupid yellow card for his sarcastic laughter in response to a referee's decision. So far, so good for Vini. For all his qualities, he can't let a match go by without getting annoyed, or getting annoyed, or both.
Usually it's not a big deal, but in this case it's his fifth warning, which earns him a one-match suspension. But due to the season's schedule, that means “almost a month without Vinicius”, as AS said.
A month of inactivity?
Firstly, there is a two-week break for international matches. La Liga then resumes, with Real Madrid playing on the 31st against an Athletic Club in fine form – this is the match for which the Brazilian will be suspended.
The following week, the championship will be interrupted to make way for the Copa Del Rey final.
Vinicius will therefore be deprived of a long period of club play. And to make matters worse, the match he will return for will be the first leg of the Champions League against Manchester City. For once, Madrid fans are probably hoping that he will play a few minutes with his country, simply to keep him in shape so that he can approach this big match in full possession of his means.
