The boss of FC Nantes returned to the replacement of Jocelyn Gourvennec by Antoine Kombouaré.
A year after his departure, Antoine Kombouaré returns to service in Nantes to play the firefighter on duty. The experienced technician, who was replaced by Pierre Aristouy before the latter gave way to Jocelyn Gourvennec during the season, will try to find the levers to save the club in the elite.
Called to comment on this decision for the newspaper L'Équipe, Waldemar Kita made some surprising comments. “ It wasn't an easy decision to make because he's a great guy. With Franck (Kita, the general director of the FCN), we would have really liked to keep him, but we didn't see a solution to get out of it.“
“We need an electric shock”
“ Despite all the sympathy we have towards Jocelyn, when you see the behavior of the players, the results, a whole set of things, there was no revolution, Kita continued.. We can talk as much as we want but at some point, we need an electric shock, to recreate a dynamic, a hope. If we don't do anything, we'll go straight down. The players can blame themselves too. They have their share of responsibility“.
Sixteenth in Ligue 1, FC Nantes is on the brink of collapse after a very frustrating start to 2024.
