Joao Cancelo and Pep Guardiola fell out at Manchester City and the full-back has finally opened up about the reasons for this rift.
In an exclusive interview with Portuguese channel RTP, the Lusitanian full-back revealed the reasons for his break with Manchester City, while discussing his wishes for the future. Currently on loan at FC Barcelona from the Eastlands club, the 29-year-old also revealed that he hopes to remain with the Catalan side beyond the end of his current loan spell.
When asked about his relationship with Guardiola, Cancelo said (via Relevo): “There are things we didn't agree on, we don't have to agree on everything. There were things I didn't agree with or he didn't agree with something I said, that's what it is. But I have no resentment, I am very grateful. Life goes on, I’m very, very happy here.”

As for his future at Barcelona, he added: “ So far, they haven't told me anything, but I hope I'll stay. I do everything for that. I really want to play for Benfica, I really do, but I want to play two or three more years here.
Even though we have financial problems, I'm happy to be here. After Benfica, it's the club I always loved. Pepe often told me he was a Real Madrid player, but I told him it was for Barcelona. The truth is, I’m where I always wanted to be.”
Cancelo has had a very good season with Xavi Hernandez's team, but the club's difficulties at the start of the season mean that they find themselves eight points behind leaders Real Madrid.
