PSG has one hand and four fingers on the Ligue 1 trophy. This Sunday, the capital club was able to escape from the trap set by Montpellier by leaving La Mosson with three points and plenty of confidence thanks to a wide success (2-6). Now, with 12 points ahead of its runner-up, Brest, Paris Saint-Germain is heading towards the title. And to leave the den of the MHSC with the three points, Luis Enrique's men were able to count on Kylian Mbappé who influenced the match to gargantuan proportions. Stung in recent weeks by the strange management of his trainer, KM7 was started by Luis Enrique. As a reminder, the 25-year-old striker had been replaced or substituted during PSG's last four matches in Ligue 1.

On the left side this Sunday, the player trained in Monaco was elusive for the Montpellier defense. Named man of the match for the match by the FM editorial team, the captain of the France team scored a hat-trick and provided an assist for Vitinha to open the scoring. On his first goal, he showed his coldness in front of goal by leaving no chance to Dimitry Bertaud with his left foot. Upon returning from the locker room, it was he who nailed the Hérault coffin. His second achievement is a pure gem and is surely one of his best goals in his history at PSG. Indeed, the latter armed with a powerful shot which hit the crossbar before entering Dimitry Bertaud's goal.

New eighth top scorer in Ligue 1 history

Having 200 goals in Ligue 1 in the back of his mind, Mbappé even scored the hat-trick shortly after the hour mark following a superb sequence in the Montpellier area. Masterful, Mbappé even played the entire match, a sign of his excellent performance and something that had not happened for a long time in the elite. Author of his 188th goal this evening, Kylian Mbappé also became the 8th top scorer in the history of the French championship, overtaking former OL legend Fleury Di Nallo. Only 12 goals shy of 200 in the elite, Mbappé is in a hurry and only has eight games left to achieve it. This will therefore include no longer being replaced or substituted in the eyes of Luis Enrique.

Asked about his player's performance, the one who declared that he wanted to prepare for the future without his number 7 made an enigmatic statement to underline his player's masterclass: “life is beautiful especially when you win. It’s a privilege and I said it from the first day I arrived. I'm a lucky man with a lot of incredible players who have incredible qualities and fighting spirit. I like all our goals. These are very good goals. I don't want to choose. Life simpler with Mbappé the whole match? I agree, I still agree and you know it. It's been my idea since the first one. But what ? I didn't replace it. I take the pressure off, forget the past.» Maintaining doubt around his best player, Luis Enrique continued at a press conference when he was asked whether Mbappé would start without the absence of Ousmane Dembélé: “never mind. I know, he doesn't. Surprise surprise (in English). He delivered another exceptional match, as usual. As long as we can take advantage of him, so much the better.» One thing is certain, Kylian Mbappé sent a message to everyone this Sunday: until his departure to Real Madrid, he remains the boss of Paris Saint-Germain.
