At the end of his contract at AC Milan, Olivier Giroud will not return. His future already seems sealed.

Olivier Giroud and AC Milan, it’s over. Arriving in Lombardy in the summer of 2021 from Chelsea, the French striker was to stay there for two years to finish his career. Still as effective nonetheless, the person concerned was able to return for a season last year. This will not be the case next offseason.

After three years of good and loyal service – a Scudetto won in 2022 and so far 46 goals scored in 121 games played – the 37-year-old former Montpellier will bow out in three months. If he was not against extending the Italian adventure a little further, the Rossoneri would indeed have other plans.

The US after the Olympics?

If we are to believe the Gazzetta dello Sport this Sunday, the departure of the French international – record holder for goals in the selection with 56 goals for 129 caps worn – would be recorded in Milan. For a well-deserved retirement? Not yet ! Determined to compete in Euro 2024 this summer but also a candidate for the Paris Olympics like Antoine Griezmann, Olivier Giroud does not see himself hanging up his crampons tomorrow.

Like his great friend and former captain of the Blues Hugo Lloris, the 2012 French champion with the MHSC would fly to the United States and MLS. With two possible destinations in mind, again according to the aforementioned Italian sports daily: New York or Los Angeles. Four franchises would therefore be likely to welcome him: New York City FC and the New York Red Bulls in the East; the Los Angeles Galaxy and Los Angeles FC in the West. The answer probably won’t come until this summer.
