Giroud and Milan, it’s almost over

Olivier Giroud is getting closer and closer to the North American Championship (MLS), assures La Gazzetta dello Sport on Sunday. The French center forward of AC Milan would therefore imitate Hugo Lloris.

The story between Olivier and Giroud and AC Milan, which began in the summer of 2021, should end in a few weeks. The 37-year-old French center forward is increasingly thinking of joining the United States and the North American Championship (Major League Soccer), assures La Gazzetta dello Sport this Sunday.

For the famous media with its pink pages, Giroud’s will was guided by family choices. The former Arsenal, Chelsea and Montpellier striker wishes to share the American experience with his wife Jennifer and their four children: Jade, Evan, Aaron and Aria.

With Lloris in Los Angeles?

At the end of his contract with AC Milan on June 30, Olivier Giroud would favor two destinations: New York or Los Angeles. If he took the Californian option, he would find another 2018 world champion in the City of Angels. Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been playing for Los Angeles FC since the end of January.

La Gazzetta dello Sport does not rule out a final season for Olivier Giroud with the Rossoneri but this hypothesis appears slight. Almost assured of appearing in the Blues group at Euro 2024 this summer in Germany, the left-handed striker would then switch for one last experience, without much pressure, he who has won everything, or almost. A deserved early retirement.
