Didier Deschamps selected Randal Kolo Muani this Thursday with the Blues, while regretting that the striker does not play more for PSG. Luis Enrique answered him.

“(Luis Enrique) does the management that he thinks is best for him, his team and his club. Well, if he can give Kolo Muani a little more playing time, that would suit me a little. But OK. » It was with these words, accompanied by a big smile, that Didier Deschamps responded Thursday to a journalist’s question about Randal Kolo Muani, selected for the next gathering of the French team, but less used than at the start of the season by Luis Enrique for Paris Saint-Germain. Two days after the French coach’s exit, the Spanish tactician responded to him.

On the eve of the Parisians’ trip to Montpellier (8:45 p.m., 26th day of Ligue 1), Luis Enrique was in front of the media this Saturday for the pre-match press conference. He therefore did not escape a question about Didier Deschamps’ exit and answered it in his own way. “ Kolo Muani has 1,600 minutes of competition at the highest level, for his first season, with a level of competition unprecedented for him. » And the coach added: “ I like him, I’m very happy with him. »

Better for the future?

End of the discussion through the media, even if Luis Enrique wanted to add that Randal Kolo Muani never hesitated to “ give your best » whenever he called on him. Often a starter during the first months of the season, Randal Kolo Muani suffered the full force of the emergence of Bradley Barcola on the left side of the Parisian attack, and the refocusing of Kylian Mbappé in the axis. Today as a substitute, Kolo Muani must therefore be content with parts of matches, while perhaps waiting to find more significant playing time.

For this season, the thing seems understood, but once Kylian Mbappé leaves PSG, the cards will be reshuffled. If he necessarily hopes to change his status, Randal Kolo Muani knows that the task will not be easy for him in Paris, even if the club paid nearly 95 million euros to snatch him from Eintracht Frankfurt. The next summer transfer window will also be important. In the meantime, Didier Deschamps continues to trust him in the French team.
