Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti appeared unfazed when asked about the UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City.
This quarter-final encounter means the two teams will face each other for the third consecutive season after epic battles. During the 2022 semi-final, Ancelotti’s men staged an incredible comeback to win 6-5 on aggregate, before winning the final.
Pep Guardiola got his revenge last season, winning the second leg 4-0 in Manchester, allowing the Premier League champions to win the first Champions League in their history.
Ancelotti and Guardiola meet a round earlier this time, with Bayern Munich or Arsenal on the horizon for the winner, and the Italian is not fazed by the challenge.
Ancelotti is not afraid
“They are the opponent that everyone considers the favorite. It will be a difficult match, but in Madrid we have the confidence to do well. The return match in Manchester is something else”according to Marca.
“To win this competition, you have to beat the best. I think it will be like previous years. One year we won, the other they won, we’ll see how it goes.”
Ancelotti’s composure is backed by years of Champions League experience and the fact that he is the only manager to have won the title four times in his long career. Los Blancos should be closer to winning the La Liga title before they face City in April, seven points clear at the top of the table.
