Back in the quarter-finals of the Champions League after two years of absence, PSG is determined on its fate. He will have to get rid of XXXXX to see the last square.

After inheriting the group of death during the draw for the group stage last summer, with AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle, then being on the contrary spared during the round of 16 draw by inheriting the Real Sociedad despite its second place in this group F, PSG was overall spoiled on Friday during the quarter-final draw.

The capital club has indeed seen John Obi Mikel, responsible for this last draw in the history of the Champions League in its current format, reserve a double confrontation against FC Barcelona for a reunion seven years after the famous comeback and three years after Kylian Mbappé’s recital at the Nou Camp. A draw all the more appreciable as PSG came very close to having to face either Manchester City or Real Madrid, the two scarecrows of these quarter-finals, who are left without having to face each other.

Neither Real, nor City nor Bayern in the semi-final if they qualify

PSG will be on familiar ground and not only because Luis Enrique served as player and coach of the Catalan club – he was on the Blaugrana bench in 2017 during the comeback – but also because it will be the sixth double confrontation between the two teams. The quarter-finals will be played on April 9 and 10 for the first legs, and April 16 and 17 for the return matches and PSG will nevertheless have the big disadvantage of receiving in the first leg and traveling to the Monjuic Stadium for the return. .

But the best was yet to come for PSG since in the event of qualification for the semi-finals, the capital club will avoid the winner of the summit duel between Manchester City and Real Madrid but also Bayern Munich and Arsenal. The winner of the semi-final between PSG and Barça will indeed meet the winner of the duel between Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. A godsend in the semi-final of the Champions League.
