Like a sense of deja vu. After having easily disposed of Real Sociedad in the previous round, Paris Saint-Germain will cross paths with yet another Spanish club during the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Wishing to avoid at all costs falling against Manchester City, defending champion, or Real Madrid, the reigning French champion inherited FC Barcelona this Friday. If it expects a particularly close confrontation, the Catalan club was quick to launch hostilities by trolling the French club via social networks.
“You remember it ? Of course you remember.”, posted Barça, all accompanied by a photo of Messi and Neymar recalling the famous comeback of March 2017. At the time, PSG had created a sensation in the first leg by defeating FC Barcelona at the Parc des Princes ( 4-0), before literally sinking at the Camp Nou a few weeks later (6-1). Note, however, that the last confrontation between the two teams had rather smiled on PSG (5-2 on the cumulative score during the 2020-2021 edition).
