Three days after mentioning a possible “comeback”, Marcelino reaffirms the possibility for Villarreal to reverse the trend against OM in the Europa League.

However, Marcelino wants to believe that his team is capable of turning things around. “We have to play this match at our best possible level, we have to show our best version if we want to beat OM. I think we have the ability to balance this match on our pitch, in front of our audience,” declared the Spanish technician this Wednesday evening at a press conference.

And the former OM coach continued: “Afterwards, you will have to be good on both surfaces. Marseille had total efficiency in the first leg: in their first four situations, they scored three times. If we have the same efficiency as them, you never know.” Villarreal currently remains on three consecutive victories in La Liga.
On June 23, Marcelino signed a contract with OM until 2025. Only three months later, he chose to resign from his position as coach under pressure from supporter groups. In November, the former midfielder returned to the Villarreal bench.
