Luis Enrique’s choice to leave him most often on the bench in Ligue 1 has serious consequences for the PSG striker.

Five days after taking PSG to the Champions League by scoring the two goals in Paris’ victory on the San Sebastian pitch, Kylian Mbappé returned to everyday life in Ligue 1 and with his new role as substitute. Sunday, while the French champions hosted the Stade de Reims, the Bondynois had to sit on the bench and ultimately be content with coming into play at the start of the last quarter of an hour in the company of Ousmane Dembélé.

The former Monegasque had two opportunities at the edge of the area, this time he was unable to make the decision and allow the capital club to return to victory after their two previous draws against Rennes and at Monaco. PSG is nonetheless eight steps ahead of its runner-up, Brest, and can therefore see it coming with nine days to go.

Harry Kane is unstoppable

Kylian Mbappé also seems assured of a new title of top scorer. Certainly silent in the championship for almost a month and the penalty scored against Nantes, the French world champion, with 21 goals on the clock, is seven lengths ahead of his runner-up, Jonathan David. The Lille striker is nevertheless in resplendent form. On Sunday, the Canadian international scored a double against Lille and has now scored six goals in his last four Ligue 1 matches. With now 14 goals, he is nevertheless still seven points behind Kylian Mbappé and will have a good time struggling to overtake the Parisian attacker.

On the European front, the Parisian number 7 has undoubtedly seen his dreams of the Golden Shoe disappear, one of his last objectives with PSG. Because while Kylian Mbappé is at a standstill, Harry Kane is scoring goals in the Bundesliga. This weekend, the former Spur scored a hat-trick and now has 30 goals in the league and the Parisian striker should no longer be able to catch up.
