An OL legend fired

Returning to Olympique Lyonnais a year ago, Sonny Anderson will have to leave the Rhone club at the end of the season.

The story will not go any further. Appointed sports advisor by Jean-Michel Aulas in February 2023, Sonny Anderson will no longer be at the club next season. Under contract until next June, the Brazilian has clearly not convinced John Textor, JMA’s successor at the head of Les Gones.

“I have a contract which runs until June 30. But the club decided not to continue with me for next year, thus confided the former attacker Nice morning. Initially, the idea was to do as Bernard (Lacombe) did with Jean-Michel Aulas. We had projects with the academy, training. But that doesn’t interest Textor. And it’s strange to say, but I have no mission, nothing. It doesn’t suit me at all, because I would have liked to bring something else to the club. But it is a management choice, and we must accept it. »

Pushed out at OL, Sonny Anderson could see himself bouncing back to another of his former clubs, in Monaco or Marseille, this time within the technical staff.
