According to several Italian media, a search by the Guardia di Finanza, the Italian financial brigade, is currently underway at Casa Milan, the headquarters of the Milan club. According to the newspaper of La Repubblica, the arrests of club leaders cannot be ruled out in the event of suspicion of offenses linked to the Redbird takeover operation. In recent months, investigations linked to the sale of the majority share of AC Milan, carried out in August 2022 by the Elliott fund to the Redbird fund, had been launched by the Milan public prosecutor’s office. The Italian newspaper of Corriere adds that the president of AC Milan since 2022, Giorgio Furlani, and his predecessor between 2018 and 2022, Ivan Gazidis, are the subject of an investigation by the Milan public prosecutor’s office for an alleged offense of obstructing the activity of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC).
According to the accusations, the current owner, Gerry Cardinale of the Red Bird fund, would still be under the dominant influence of the seller, the American fund Elliott of financier Paul Singer, as suggested to the monetary police unit of the Guardia di Finanza by three documentary sources of unpublished circumstances.
