With the elimination of Napoli from the Champions League, Juventus is now guaranteed to compete in the major 2025 Club World Cup (next year in the United States).

The field for the 2025 World Cup, which will be the very first Club World Cup with 32 teams (instead of 7!), will be known at the end of the current European season. And the elimination of Napoli by Barça on Tuesday in the quarter-finals of the Champions League allows Juventus to be among the first 10 European qualifiers (out of 12) for the tournament organized in the United States next summer ( June 15-July 13).

In Europe, the winners of the 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 Champions League – namely Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City – will be there, as well as the 8 other best teams according to the UEFA coefficient, with a limit of two clubs by country (except in the case of a double victory in the LDC). Bayern, PSG, Inter, FC Porto, Borussia Dortmund and Benfica were already guaranteed to participate before this week.

Barça behind Atlético

Barça finds itself in the quarter-finals but remains behind Atlético in UEFA points. To accompany Real Madrid at the Club World Cup, the Blaugranas will have to win the C1 on June 1 or reach the semi-finals of the competition in the event of Atlético’s elimination on Wednesday against Inter. Not easy.

In the other confederations, Al-Hilal and the Urawa Red Diamonds for Asia, Al Ahly and Wydad Casablanca for Africa, Monterrey, Léon and the Seattle Sounders for North and Central America, Palmeiras, Flamengo and Fluminense for Amsud, and Auckland City for Oceania are already preparing to participate in this major inaugural tournament.

Champions League winners: Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid
