OM, the big worry

Jonathan Clauss is reassuring, but his absence worries Marseille.

Jonathan Clauss, right back of Olympique de Marseille, missed training on Saturday and the match against Nantes (2-0) in Ligue 1 on Sunday due to knee pain.

The news sparked concerns about the severity of his injury. However, coach Jean-Louis Gasset was reassuring at a press conference.

Reassuring news

“It’s not serious on the ultrasound. I think he needed two or three days of rest, thus judged Gasset. In the European Cup (Thursday against Villarreal, editor’s note), I took him out a quarter of an hour from the end, because he didn’t have to sprint too much or pull the corner too many. »

If Clauss’ injury is not serious, his prolonged absence could nevertheless handicap OM. Indeed, the Marseille club does not have a real specialist at the right-back position.

“We have to invent a strategy”

“But as he is the only full-back at the club, every time he is not there, we are forced to invent a strategy to deal with that, without having a specialist. Eventually, it will show”said JLG.

The Montpellier technician will therefore have to find solutions to compensate for Claus’ absence, particularly in view of the important match against Villarreal in the Europa League next Thursday.
