Real Madrid have no plans to part ways with Rodrygo Goes this summer – yet.

The Brazilian striker earned a place in the starting XI for the first time last season, and with the departure of Karim Benzema, he was expected to take another step forward in his production, but this was not the case.

Rodrygo still has 13 goals and 8 assists this season, the third best contribution behind Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham. It takes him 121 minutes to score a goal, behind Vinicius, Bellingham, Joselu Mato (123 minutes) and Brahim Diaz (94 minutes). The latter two are his direct competitors and have had less continuity than him.

He also needed 9.25 shots to score, far behind Joselu (6.37), Brahim (6.25), Vinicius (5.4) and Bellingham (3.25), according to The Athletic. Real Madrid are not currently considering a transfer as they still see him as part of the young generation that will lead Real Madrid forward. It is already highlighted that Rodrygo seems most likely to give way to Kylian Mbappe in the team, but Real Madrid are ‘reluctant’ to fuel discussions over an exit from the club.

Rodrygo serene

The player’s camp isn’t too concerned about the situation, emphasizing that he plays out of his position on the right in order to help the team, rather than on the left. He is also eager to be a part of Mbappé’s arrival in the team and see where that could take Real Madrid.

Things could be a little different next season if Rodrygo spends most of his time on the bench. The 23-year-old is getting to an age where he will want regular football, and he can play out of position, but with Vinicius and Mbappé on the other side, there is no reason to think he will play there at some point in the next five years.
