PSG was held in check at home this Sunday, when they hosted Reims (2-2, 25th day of Ligue 1). Paris no longer wins in the championship.
Five days after validating their ticket for the quarter-finals of the Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain was out this Sunday for the reception of Reims, as part of the twenty-fifth day of Ligue 1. With an eleven largely reshuffled by Luis Enrique and Kylian Mbappé on the bench at kick-off, the Parisians failed to win. For their part, the Champenois were able to take advantage of a few errors from their hosts to glean a precious point (2-2).
Things started perfectly for the visitors who put a shot behind the heads of their opponents in the seventh minute of play, a moment chosen by Nyasha Munetsi to steal a ball poorly thrown by Keylor Navas towards Achraf Hakimi before putting it at the back of the Parisian net (0-1, 7th). Opportunistic on this occasion, the Rémois were then unlucky on a Parisian corner deflected into his cage by Yunis Abdelhamid (1-1, 17th). Enough to wake up Paris which took the advantage two minutes later thanks to Gonçalo Ramos (2-1, 19th).
Third consecutive draw in the league
Finished for the first period? No ! Because just before the referee sent everyone back to the locker room, Emmanuel Agbadou found Oumar Diakite with a ball between two opposing lines, and the latter deceived Navas (2-2, 45th). After fifteen minutes of rest, everyone returned to the pitch, but no more goals were scored. Luis Enrique nevertheless brought in his usual starters, but neither Ousmane Dembélé nor Kylian Mbappé, who appeared fifteen minutes from the end, were able to reverse the trend.
This draw (2-2) is a good performance for Stade de Reims which consolidates its ninth place, now four points ahead of Lyon, its first pursuer (pending Toulouse’s match against Le Havre this Sunday). As for Paris, although it did not lose, it still conceded a third consecutive draw in Ligue 1. Not enough to make Luis Enrique smile. However, and due to Brest’s defeat yesterday against Lens (1-0), PSG is still ten points ahead of second.
