Suspended for four years following a positive testosterone test, Paul Pogba was approached by a Russian club.

August 20, 2023 will remain a dark date for Paul Pogba. That day, the Juventus midfielder tested positive for testosterone. A few months later, the second opinion confirmed the positivity of the sample, before the Italian anti-doping prosecution indicated to the French world champion that he was suspended for four years with immediate effect. If his representatives counterattacked by specifying that they were going to appeal, the observation is there for Paul Pogba who has not played for several months. But a Russian club offered him to return to service.

The story is relayed this Sunday by several European media. Paul Pogba was therefore approached by the Broke Boys club (Brown Boys, in French), a team playing in the Russian Media Football League. A team which is therefore not part of the Russian Premier League since its league is not linked to Fifa or the Russian Football Federation, which would allow “la Pioche” to regain playing time and to maintain while waiting for the end of his suspension.

Not a joke

The sporting director of the Broke Boys, a certain Artjom Chatjaturjan, declared for his part: “ This may sound like a joke, but we called it. So far he has politely refused. He is in a phase of despair and needs time to accept that one of the best footballers in the world will not be allowed to play for so long. » Surely delighted with his publicity stunt, the manager perhaps has no illusions about the possibility of seeing Pogba arrive in Russia, but he has at least succeeded in shining the spotlight on his club.

As for Paul Pogba, he has remained silent since the announcement of his suspension. Now aged thirty, the native of Lagny-sur-Marne hopes that his sentence will be reduced in the event of an appeal by his lawyers. If not, then he will be thirty-four when he can return to high-level football.
