FC Barcelona’s muscular response to PSG for Lamine Yamal

It’s a little bomb dropped by the Iberian press on Saturday. Paris Saint-Germain would have made an offer of 200 million euros to FC Barcelona to try to afford the services of Lamine Yamal. The nugget from La Masia would thus take over from Kylian Mbappé, who will leave for Real Madrid at the end of the season. Jorge Mendes, the agent of the young Spanish international, even traveled to Barcelona to discuss this Parisian proposal with Joan Laporta, president of the Catalan team.

As indicated by various media such as Sport or AS this Sunday, the Parisians want to take advantage of the very tense financial situation of their Barcelona counterparts to afford Yamal at a (very) relatively reasonable price. However, as the Spanish press explains, FC Barcelona’s response was very clear: no. Barça has no intention of parting ways with Yamal and will not negotiate with Paris.

Yamal is very very expensive

And this, even if such a sale could almost serve to put the club back into the green financially. The Iberian media remind us that in this matter, and unlike the Neymar affair at the time, Barça is rather in a position of strength. Indeed, the young winger recently extended his contract with a release clause of one billion euros. This is therefore the amount that PSG would have to pay to recruit him. And as stated A.S.Parisians logically have no intention of putting so much money on the table.

The 16-year-old, like other very promising elements of the club like Gavi and Ronald Araujo, has precisely seen his release clause set so high to avoid new Neymar cases. And if there is one player who is currently considered untransferable, it’s him. FC Barcelona considers him its franchise player and wants to build around it. PSG will have to turn to other avenues…
