Bayer Leverkusen’s incredible series seems to have no end. Still undefeated this season, Xabi Alonso’s team hosted Wolfsburg this evening. The visitors were quickly reduced to 10. After a first yellow card for a shirt pulling, Moritz Jenz was sent off following a second major foul (28th). The leaders didn’t ask for that much to impose their tempo. Without Jeremie Frimpong (suspended), Bayer relied on his replacement Nathan Tella. In a constructed attack, the Nigerian took a cross from the essential Alejandro Grimaldo (37th). The Spanish left piston now has 12 assists to his name, in addition to 11 goals scored this season. The domination was then total.

At the end of the match, Florian Wirtz doubled the lead to consolidate a new success. The Wölfes still have a comfortable lead over the relegation zone (5 points), but this defeat puts them in the soft underbelly of the championship. After 25 days, there are now only nine league matches left for Bayer Leverkusen. Still ten points ahead of their runner-up Bayern Munich, Xabi Alonso’s players are heading towards the title.
