The attitude of Luis Enrique, this Monday at a press conference, particularly exasperated Giovanni Castaldi. The journalist expressed his strong annoyance.
On the eve of the Champions League round of 16 second leg between Real Sociedad and Paris Saint-Germain, Luis Enrique knew that the pre-match press conference which took place on Monday would be punctuated with questions relating to Kylian Mbappé. The Parisian coach therefore did not escape questions from journalists who notably returned to the much-discussed replacement of the striker this weekend, at half-time of the championship match against Monaco (0-0, 24th daytime). Refusing to make too many comments, Luis Enrique preferred to kick in, in his own way, taking advantage of a small technical problem linked to the translation of the questions. But the episode didn’t make everyone laugh.
Present at this press conference, Giovanni Castladi did not at all like the attitude of the Spanish strategist. He made it known several times on the channel The Team. First, just after the coach spoke: “ What strikes me about Luis Enrique is that we journalists always get screwed because we don’t talk about the game, supposedly we only seek controversy. We ask him questions to know concretely (…) what he expects from (Kylian Mbappé), what he did not respect tactically, he does not answer. (…) He doesn’t want to be there. He makes fun of journalists. His show with the translator’s story… The first time, the sound was a little low, he understood very well what (the journalist) wanted to tell him, he didn’t want to answer the question. »
“He can just respect people”
And the journalist deplores a certain lack of respect on the part of the Spaniard towards the profession. “ He can just respect the people who are moving around. It’s their job, it’s an important moment for the media. Us, if he doesn’t want to be there… We’re not there to satisfy our ego, we’re there so people can understand what’s going on in the team, talk about the game, talk about football, and he never wants to answer, he’s not interested. So after a while it gets annoying. » An annoyance which did not let go of Giovanni Castaldi all day. Speaking once again on the subject on the sports channel late in the afternoon, Carine Galli’s companion still had things to say.
