Beaten by Lazio in Rome, Bayern largely won the return match (3-0) to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League, thanks in particular to a double from Harry Kane, top scorer in the competition with Kylian Mbappé .

After sinking on the field of Lazio (1-0), three weeks ago, in the wake of the exclusion of Dayot Upamecano, Bayern left no chance to the formation of Mattéo Guendouzi by winning the eighth Champions League final return leg 3-0 on Tuesday evening in Munich.

Largely dominant (unsurprisingly), Thomas Tuchel’s men found the fault at the end of the first period, thanks to the inevitable Harry Kane on a cross from Raphaël Guerreiro (38th) then Thomas Müller, with a header on a spectacular recovery of Matthijs de Ligt (45th + 2). Confidence was high at the break, in an overjoyed Allianz Arena.

Kane-Mbappé, the remote duel

Kane ended up scoring a double on a serve from Leroy Sané (66th). Enough to respond remotely to a certain Kylian Mbappé, author of two goals at the same time with PSG. The English striker and the French phenomenon are now the two top scorers in the CL, with six goals. They are also the most decisive players in Europe, being involved in 41 goals in all competitions.

Bayern and PSG are the first two qualified for the “big 8”, before Man City-FC Copenhagen and Real Madrid-Leipzig on Wednesday. The draw for the quarter-finals is scheduled for Friday March 14, the day after the last two round of 16 second legs.
