Former FC Barcelona central defender Gerard Pique has criticized the Catalan club for “selling smoke and mirrors” due to their financial difficulties.

During a lengthy interview on Twitch, Piqué gave an honest assessment of Barça’s situation: “I think the fans of the club want the truth. If we are in this reality, we must say so. What we can’t do is sell a smokescreen saying we’re going to win the Champions League when we don’t have the money to be competitive. I don’t know the club’s situation in detail, but I think people want to know the truth, to be told that there is no money, that they will bet on La Masia for two or three years. »
An abysmal debt
