Xavi Hernandez’s decision is clear. After a heavy 5-3 defeat at home against Villarreal at the end of last January, Xavi made his future departure from FC Barcelona official. But since then, the results have improved and the Spanish press explained that the Catalan technician could reconsider his decision. But this is not the case, since the 44-year-old manager assured yesterday that“To date, nothing has changed, there is no problem. No change, I move forward step by step and we think of Bilbao”.

Seeing Xavi Hernandez stay would require a lot of conditions, especially since FC Barcelona has already started looking for a successor and several names had been selected. Quite a few names quickly came out like Xabi Alonso, Jürgen Klopp, Sergio Conceiçao and Ruben Amorim. But that’s not all since we learned that Deco and Joan Laporta had agreed on the choice of the Brighton technician: Roberto De Zerbi. A favorite target, even if another name stays one step ahead.

A Zerbi-Flick duel?

According to information from Sky Sports Germany, Hansi Flick remains FC Barcelona’s priority to succeed Xavi Hernández on his bench. Joan Laporta admitted to having a weakness for German technicians at the moment. The former Bayern Munich coach, free since his departure from the Nationalmannschaft, quickly appeared as the big favorite, he who has already won the Champions League in 2020. The German media even assures that the first concrete discussions took place between the two clans.

However, no final decision has yet been made by Joan Laporta or sporting director Deco regarding the arrival of Hansi Flick. It now remains to be seen whether Barça is waiting to have a response from Roberto De Zerbi to make a decision or if it wants to quickly validate Flick, knowing that he is also a candidate to come and save Bayern Munich. For his part, the German coach is also open to the possibility of settling in the Catalan peninsula.
