Rayan Cherki continues to fuel debate within the ranks of Olympique Lyonnais.
After having distinguished himself during the previous rounds in the Coupe de France, Rayan Cherki was not started by Pierre Sage during the quarter-final won by Olympique Lyonnais against Strasbourg, Tuesday evening (0-0, 4-3 tab ). This did not prevent the French international Espoir from making an entrance full of personality.
Cherki did not hide in the game during the last quarter of an hour, before converting his attempt without batting an eyelid during the penalty shootout.
“A kid who deserves to be accompanied”
Called to comment on the performance of his attacking midfielder, Pierre Sage distributed the good points. “If he makes dynamic comebacks like he did against Nice, there is no reason why things should not improve for him. He is a player who we support in the process of becoming the great player he should be,” the technician pointed out.
“In any case, we are patient with him and we will not give up because he is a kid from the club. He’s a kid who deserves to be supported, and he too is involved in this project. So it is his patience today which is his strength and we are waiting for his performances to stabilize and allow him to have more playing time too.“, concluded Pierre Sage at the microphone of BeIN Sports.
