Macron’s involvement with Mbappé came under scrutiny in 2022, when he reportedly spoke with the PSG star about his future before signing an extension with PSG, turning down Real Madrid in the process. This was clearly a matter of state, with Macron wanting Mbappé to continue living in the French capital. This time he made no effort to influence the French striker, who has already decided to join Los Blancos.
