While his departure from PSG seemed set in stone, the Emir of Qatar has clearly not given up on convincing Kylian Mbappé to stay in the capital.
Kylian Mbappé has decided. After seven years in Paris, the French world champion has decided to leave the capital club at the end of the season. The Bondynois recently informed his managers, taking care to specify that his decision was irrevocable and that there was no point in attempting yet another outbidding. The message was well understood by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, determined to strike (very) hard next summer to make Parisian supporters forget the former Monegasque.
However, to believe The Team, the Emir of Qatar would not be completely resigned. This Tuesday, Tamim ben Hamad Al Thani is expected at the Elysée for a dinner with Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of discussions with Israel and Hamas in order to negotiate a truce. An evening at the presidential palace to which Kylian Mbappé was invited.
An absurd maneuver?
And according to the sports daily, the Emir of Qatar would therefore have in mind to try to convince his star player to stay at PSG and would be ready to draw up a new offer to achieve his ends. According to certain Madrid media, Kylian Mbappé is however very close to an agreement with Real Madrid, Marca having even affirmed last week that he had already signed his new contract, a five-year lease accompanied by a salary of 15 million euros.
The information released by The Team nevertheless caused a strong reaction. “Government and PSG sources say it is completely absurd for the Emir of Qatar to come to Paris to make a new offer for Mbappé,” wrote journalist Abdellah Boulma on Twitter. “The word is said: he will play for Real Madrid next season”, added Santi Anoua.
